Over the last couple months, Nike has worked closely with a variety of the nation’s top NCAA basketball teams to develop a head-to-toe uniform system designed to meet the growing needs of players demanding superior performance while maintaining a distinct look.  A number of those teams – including Memphis, Duke, Gonzaga, Michigan State and Oregon – will don the new system during the conference and NCAA tournaments complete with innovative base layer apparel, unique uniforms and customized footwear.

As a Nike sponsored program, Memphis student athletes worked with Nike’s designers to help create a design that represented the school. The NIKEiD Hyperdunk is the first time that Nike has given a collegiate program complete control over creating their own team’s entire outfit (jersey, shorts and shoe). Your own customized design for the sneakers can be reproduced on NIKEiD.com.

Both the shoe and the jersey incorporates aspects of the school’s heritage.  Nike’s official press release has been attached for more information. According to Nike Media:

The University of Memphis: Dynamic tiger stripes representing the boldness of the mascot inspire this jersey design. The team’s “refuse to lose” quote is abbreviated and included at the center of this design.

According to a source on Nike’s end, “the current plan is for the jersey’s to be worn during both” the Conference USA and NCAA Tournament games.
