Effective Monday, September 14th,2009, Memphis Roar is officially the one and only ESPN affiliate for the University of Memphis. In May 2007, Bucknuts.com (Ohio State ESPN affiliate) became the first independent sports site to affiliate with ESPN and, later that same year, was the founding member of the TEAM Network of ESPN-affiliated independent collegiate fan sites. The TEAM Sports Network, which is also in a partnership with ESPN, is a fledgling network of collegiate sports websites much like ours that get to keep their independent spirit and yet are bound together by a common bond—bringing the absolute best sports coverage of your favorite sports teams to you!
Memphis Roar is the FIRST NON-BCS school to be named an ESPN Affiliate. Since launching Memphis Roar in January of this year, our readers have helped rapidly expand our audience and abilities as a media outlet. We have already gone through big changes as an online community since January and we hope that there are big things on the horizon for us. With your continued support, we hope to continue bringing you the best coverage of the University of Memphis athletic programs.
In addition to continuing our comprehensive coverage, we hope to continue improving your online experience at MemphisRoar.com. Continually looking at new ways to bring you news and to improve our site, we hope that you will provide feedback so that we can better suit the needs of the Memphis Tigers’ fanbase. With this partnership now in place, the Memphis Roar staff now has more resources at their fingertips to assist in bringing you ever better content and coverage than before. Thanks again for making Memphis Roar what it has become.
ESPN has exclusive rights to the Under Armor and Nike football camps and combines in addition to the Under Armor All-American Game, and, as a result, ESPN affiliate sites have premier access. We now have access to the premier basketball and football scouts with Scouts, Inc; Paul Biancardi/Antonio Williams/Reggie Rankin and Tom Luginbill, etc respectively. Additionally, we now have the potential to have our content and breaking news featured on the ESPN family of networks; ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News, ESPNU and ESPN.com.
