Penny Hardaway Basketball Classic: December 3-5, 2009

MEMPHIS, TN. – Former NBA great and Memphis resident, Penny Hardaway, will be hosting his 1st annual High School Basketball Classic beginning on Thursday, December 3rd. Over 30 teams will be competing in the Penny Hardaway Basketball Classic that will feature several local University of Memphis signees for the class of 2010.

“What a great event for the city of Memphis”, said Rick Barlow, Director of the Penny Hardaway Basketball Classic, “we have an NBA legend with Memphis roots giving the young men and women of Memphis the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills against other great teams from the mid-south as well as teams from Alabama and Georgia.”

The Penny Hardaway Basketball Classic is a 3-day event beginning on Thursday, December 3rd running through Saturday, December 5th. All games are being played at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Memphis.

Tickets can be purchased for $12 at the door.

Proceeds from the event will go to the local Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Thursday night’s games feature Tiger signees Chris Crawford and Tarik Black along with other high-level recruits. Lee High School features former Louisville commit Josh Langford along with Devin Langford (6′6″ class of 2011 guard – recruited by Alabama, Kansas, Illinois and others).
