Seastrunk Will Not Visit USC as Planned, Decision Soon

By Brooks Hansen on January 13th, 2010

Coming off of the Army All-American, ESPN Scouts, Inc. #6-rated running back Lache Seastrunk had no idea what was on the horizon for the University of Southern California and their football program. By Monday night, Seastrunk and all of America had their answer. Lane Kiffin.

Before the news broke of Lane Kiffin’s hire, Seastrunk was scheduled to visit USC this coming weekend. Narrowing his choices to Oregon, USC, LSU, Auburn and Memphis, Seastrunk draws near to a decision with National Signing Day only three weeks away. The announcement of a new head coach for the Trojans did not change his decision on whether or not he would visit USC.

“No, I am not visiting USC this coming weekend. I don’t plan on visiting USC at this point,” said Seastrunk. “I’m aware of the new coach and it will likely not change my decision moving forward. I have cancelled this trip, I have no other visits planned, and I’m actually hoping to have my decision very soon.”

The 5’11″ 190-pound electric running back took part in the prestigious Army All-American game and the experience made a lasting impact.

“The army game was such a great experience for me. I’m never going to forget it. I’ll never forget who I met and those connections,” responded Seastrunk. “Overall I’m glad for the experience, I’m glad I took the opportunity and ran with it, it was a lot of fun.”

ESPN Scouts, Inc. had this to say about Seastrunk:

Fast, explosive, electric, either way you slice it, Seastrunk is arguably one of this class’ biggest game-breakers at the running back position. He lacks ideal size but is very well-built, defined and his tight, quick twitched body allows him to run and play much bigger.

Although Lache did not name his top schools, the heavy talk is that Oregon could now be viewed as the favorite, Auburn, LSU, and Memphis also remain some schools of possibility for this home run threat of a running back. With Larry Porter, who was Seastrunk’s lead recruiter at LSU, now at Memphis, Frank Wilson is the new man on the job for the Bayou-Tigers. Stay tuned.

NOTE: This interview was conducted by Justin Hopkins of DuckTerritory.com, ESPN Affiliate for Oregon. Since the Oregon Ducks are one of the front-runners for Seastrunk’s services, DuckTerritory.com would be a good site to bookmark for breaking news on the highly-touted running back.
