Over the next few weeks, Memphis Roar will be introducing the members of the 2009-2010 pom squad one by one, letting you in on some of the things outside of dance that drive these young ladies. Meet Christina.Christina is a senior interior design major from Illinois. She started dancing with her sister when she was little. Christina came to the University of Memphis because she wanted to get away from home to go to college and dance. Q: What is the biggest difference between dance in college versus high school/all-star?
A: “College has a more professional feel to it. There is a lot more work that goes into a performance which has a lot more preparation.”
Q: Most memorable moment in collegiate dance career?
A: “My favorite moment was winning the national hip hop championship two years in a row!!!”
Q: Most embarrassing moment in college career?
A: “I was dancing at a basketball game and slipped when running off the floor! I went down hard .. hahah”
Q: Most influential person in your life and why?
A: “My father has been very important in my life. He has been with me for everything and has supported me through the good and the bad. My father has also helped me grow into the lady I am today.”
Q: My career ambition is:
A: “I would love to run my own company dealing with buying housing and completely flipping them into something brand new where a family can start their lives!”
Q: I live by the following motto:
A: “If you can believe.. then you WILL achieve.”
Q: Favorite course in school and why?
A: “A history course with Dr. Fain…. She was so nutty and smart, that everyday was a new adventure with her!!!”
Q: Least favorite course and why?
A: “Sociology, my teacher taught the whole semester in monotone.”
Q: Favorite tv show:
A: “GLEE”
Q: Favorite hobbies:
A: “dancing and drawing”
Q: Favorite sports team growing up:
A: “St. Louis Cardinals!!!”
Q: Favorite actor?
A: “Will Smith”
Q: Favorite vacation spot:
A: “Puerto Rico”
Q: Favorite holiday and why?
A: “Thanksgiving.. The whole family gets together and gives thanks that we have each other.”
Q: Best advice to give someone who wants to be a college dancer:
A: “Enjoy dancing while you can!!! I love to dance and quicker than you know it …you will be starting the next step in your life, so cherish it!”
Q: Is dancing a sport, why or why not?
A: “I believe dancing is a sport, we do many long hours of practice to show of our talents just like any other sport.”
