UPDATED: Tony Parker cuts list; Memphis one of three

T ony Parker, the 6-foot-9 2012 center from Lithonia, Ga, has cut his list to three finalists as signing day (April 11th) approaches. Parker was considering UCLA, Duke, Kansas, Ohio State, Memphis and Georgia going into this week, but the Miller Grove High School big-man is cutting things down according to his father Virgil Parker.

UPDATE

Despite giving quotes to the contrary at 6:06 tonight, Parker’s father Virgil has now texted me back withdrawing his statements. His latest text read, “I’m sorry. Wrong information. Tony will be cutting his list on the 8th.” It is what it is.

The lines marked through the text below are not an indication that I do not stand by my report, but that Virgil Parker now says that he had incorrect information regarding Tony cutting his list. The quotes from our initial report are still available for your two eyes. You can draw your own conclusions.

Virgil Parker said that UCLA, Duke and Memphis are the three finalists. Kansas and Ohio State, both of which were in the Final Four, have been cut from Parker’s list.

“Yes, Tony has cut his list [to Duke, UCLA, and Memphis],” Virgil Parker said by text on Wednesday afternoon. “Each of those schools has positives that would put them on the top of the list.”

Parker is traveling to Portland for the Nike Hoops Summit this week, and Parker’s father said the plan is to sit down once Tony gets home to see where they’re at.

“We’ll sit down as a family when he gets back [from Portland] with an eye on a decision next week,” Virgil Parker stated.

As I explained in the premium forums on Monday and in spite of Memphis’ presence on Parker’s final list, it is highly unlikely that Parker ends up at Memphis. The word on the street is that he ends up a UCLA Bruin.
