larry_porterIt was a slightly chilly day, with dark gray overcast skies and a constant drizzle that seemed very symbolic. After all, the Memphis football program has been under a cloud of uncertainty and negativity for the entire 2009 season. It had taken a downward turn towards apathy as the season progressed.

The Tigers may be off to a rocky start this season, but they managed to pull in a future player for the 2010 recruiting class. El Camino Community College outside linebacker Alphonso Bruton, a 6′2 225 LB has pledged to the Tigers. Alphonso, originally from Miami, FL chose Memphis over interest from schools such as the University of South Florida, Florida International University, and Oregon State.

In four games for El Camino last season, Bruton tallied six solo tackles, four assisted for a total of 10 tackles. Bruton’s commitment gives the Tigers their fifth for the 2010 recruiting class. Stay tuned to Memphis Roar for more as we try to reach Bruton.
