Usually, when a team has as many high expectations as are surrounding the Memphis football team for the upcoming season, a solid quarterback who has significant experience commanding the offense is already in place heading into the summer. This is not the case with the Tigers this year. Not to say that the Tigers don’t have plenty of solid quarterbacks, but the question is which one will be suiting up against the Rebels on September 6th. In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,  Indiana Jones and companions Short Round and Willie Scott crash land in India, ending up in a small distressed village where the residents claim a dark power has stolen their precious stone and children! Agreeing to assist the village, Indiana and friends make their way to a nearby palace and inquire further into the strange happenings. A friend of mine plays football for The University of Memphis. He is a red-shirted freshman who hopes to be thestarting punter one day. His dreams are small. He aspires to run out of the tunnel with the team, the screaming crowd of his friends and family surrounding him. He loves everything about it: the smell, the pads, the locker room, the camaraderie, the sorrow of a loss, and the triumph of a win. No one can take that away from him. That passion is his to keep. What is not his to keep is where his dreams could take him. Could they take him to a conference championship? Could they take him to a bowl game? Could his small dreams take him to a national championship? He doesn’t care about any of that, but the answer would undoubtedly be no. Not with the BCS.
