Four stand out for 2011 SG Gardner

gardnerIn his junior campaign at Okolona High School in Mississippi, rising senior guard David “D.J.” Gardner posted impressive numbers of 24.2 points and 11.1 rebounds a game. This summer, Gardner continued his high level of play by taking his offensive game to a new level while focusing on shutting opponents down on the defensive end.

Thomas set to announce final list

Adonis-Thomas2011 SF, Adonis Thomas, is set to announce his final list of school during tonight’s Boost Mobile Elite 24 game in Venice Beach, California. According to Thomas, the announcement will come either before the game or during halftime. Thomas did say that his final list will be made up of six schools.

This particular student has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his first two years of high school and unlike most high school students, this one has some unreal expectations and demands to deal with every single day; this student just happens to be one of the best high school players in the country. Unity Day offers positive opportunities

WHAT: National Foundation for Transplants presents Unity Day in honor of Maxine Kemp

WHEN: This Saturday, August 28th, 2010 from 11:00am ’til 1:30pm

WHERE: south-side of Audubon Park at Park and Goodlett; parking at Audubon Park Baptist Church

WHO: Anyone and everyone. The event is open to the public and is pet-friendly.

 

Turn on the news most nights and the stories are depressing. Drugs? Check. Violence? Check. Corruption? Check. While this is not unique to Memphis, the city’s infamy speaks for itself.

 

Tigers’ fans experienced this reality a few weeks back on July 28th when Lorenzen Wright was found in a wooded area, shot to death. The negativity abounds. To be matter-of-fact, it is up to the people of Memphis to change that. This Saturday — August 28th, 2010 at 11:00am — Unity Day presents a great opportunity to shift the focus.
