As we announced a few months back, the staffers here at Memphis Roar have been progressively reworking the site design, layout, functionality, and our overall vision. In order to complete some of the last phases of the new design, the FRONT of MemphisRoar.com will show only a “splash” (or under construction) page, as seen below, for the next 17 days and some change (unless things go much smoother than anticipated). THIS WILL GO INTO EFFECT SOMETIME ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH.

The splash page will include a countdown timer so that you will know exactly when we expect to be back up and running with the new look. The message board will still be active and we will still be doing updates, articles, interviews, pre and post-game write-ups, and updates on our progress. We will also be sending out screens shots of the new site on Twitter and Facebook. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions in the next two weeks, please feel free to email me at brooks@memphisroar.com.

AS OF TODAY, OUR TARGET COMPLETION DATE IS SEPTEMBER 21ST.

Unity Day offers positive opportunities
WHAT: National Foundation for Transplants presents Unity Day in honor of Maxine Kemp
WHEN: This Saturday, August 28th, 2010 from 11:00am ’til 1:30pm
WHERE: south-side of Audubon Park at Park and Goodlett; parking at Audubon Park Baptist Church
WHO: Anyone and everyone. The event is open to the public and is pet-friendly.
Turn on the news most nights and the stories are depressing. Drugs? Check. Violence? Check. Corruption? Check. While this is not unique to Memphis, the city’s infamy speaks for itself.
Tigers’ fans experienced this reality a few weeks back on July 28th when Lorenzen Wright was found in a wooded area, shot to death. The negativity abounds. To be matter-of-fact, it is up to the people of Memphis to change that. This Saturday — August 28th, 2010 at 11:00am — Unity Day presents a great opportunity to shift the focus.
