Class of 2013 guard Markel Crawford had fully intended on taking an unofficial visit to the University of Memphis today. Instead, the 6-foot-5 Melrose High School star never stepped foot on campus and decided to give a verbal commitment to the Tigers. Count his head coach, Jermaine Johnson, among those who were caught by surprise.

Bartow High School power forward Chris Perry — playing with E1T1 this summer — finished Nike’s EYBL tied second overall in rebounding. Memphis was the first high-major program to offer and many have come calling since. Memphis Roar caught up with the 6-foot-8 post player at Peach Jam.
