Alright so I have now just read about to Prep/Juco QBs transferring here, Andy Summerlin and Ryan Williams. Also this offseason we have added Cannon Smith. We already have Tyler Bass, Will Gilchrist and Will Hudgens for next year (just kidding they wouldnt allow him to have a 100th year of elgibility would they).....so i was wondering who do yall think will be our starting qb come spring practice? If you see cannon smith on field i hope it is in a different position because i just see too much competition for him and these other guys seem more appealing.

This is the way i see things happening Summerlin will be the starter Bass will be the backup / Wildcat formation guy and Gilcrest will be third string Cannon will be the Emergency option and williams will be red shirted, I am just a fan and have no idea what the plans of the current staff are but this is my honest opinion of our QB situation.

You can never have enough quarterbacks.

Interesting developments, if we are going Pro Style then it makes me wonder about Canon but something tells me unless he has a really tough spring then he will be the starter.... Not saying decision making is influenced in any way but just a thought.

I think it will be wide open between all of them. I expect Ryan Williams to end up redshirting, but this will be a fun spring to check out some practices and scrimmages. Should be some great competition as these guys battle for the top of the depth chart.

Yea this spring should be great this is the first time I've seen an actually competition at the position that's worthy of even being called a competition, it seems in past it was several athletes fighting for the position not true qbs or there was just one guy who had already won the job.

IMO, a leader for the starting spot needs to emerge by the end of the spring practices. Competition is definitely good, but I would like someone to step up and just be the best option.

I agree with Memphisrivercats.....
Summerlin - starting QB
Bass -QB#2 backup/wildcat
Gilcrest - QB#3
Smith - alternate position (??/Linebacker/Tightend/??/QB#4)
Ryan Williams - redshirt
Just an initial guess....who knows who will be the QB after 1st couple of games
That is a lot of competion for QB spot, but whoever emerges let's hope they can play well in the Price system and hopefully not get hurt.
Any word on Offensiveline recruits? Good quarterbacks need a good protection too.
What style offense does Coach Porter and OC-Eric Price run (West Coast/Option/traditional/mixture) ?
If the last few years have taught us anything, it's that you can never have enough talented quarterbacks.

When is the Spring Game? I think everyone's going to be really surprised at how good Cannon Smith is. He's tough as nails and can sling the ball.

We don't know yet what the date of the spring game is since Coach Porter hasn't even set up what dates spring practice will be.
