Winter Park LB Bobby Van Warner finds home as walk-on at Memphis
Winter Park linebacker Bobby Van Warner was looking for a fresh start.
The Winter Park linebacker had become jaded and bitter after being dropped by Syracuse, his dream school, late in the recruiting process.
Van Warner (6-1, 210) was crushed. He was told an offer from the ‘Cuse was imminent, but it never happened.
For a while, he was done with football.
Then spring came around and the 2012 prospect began missing the sport he had played since fifth grade. His dad put in some calls and soon he began talking to Memphis linebacker coach and former Orlando Evans High player Galen Scott.
Determined to find a home months after National Signing Day, Van Warner visited Memphis this past Monday and Troy on Tuesday. Both offered him spots as a preferred walk-on.
He evaluated the two schools and then came to a conclusion Thursday. He would play college football at Memphis, a program that, like him, was also looking for a clean slate.
“New coaches, new facilities, new conference in two years, new place,” Van Warner said. “I’m just looking forward to getting out of Central Florida and seeing somewhere new.”

Good find, nice story
The Rivals site shows more walk-ons coming in the fall
Question: since walk-ons don't count against schollies, could he go above the 25 limit with them?
That's good, you can pick up some 2 star kids and add some depth in numbers...
We will be surprised by some of these walk ons. The will be pretty good. They have something to prove to the colleges that passed on them.
Clarence Marshall will one to watch as well as Mr. Warner. Fuente will look like a genius, taking 65 schollies and a bunch of walk ons and have a winning season and get to a bowl.
Go TIGERS Go !!!
So can someone list the walkons we are talking about and something about them?
