This just came over the wire at rivals but i dont have a premeium membership so if some one who does could check into it and let us know who we got ?
Apparently he is Bret Jefcoat of itawamba C.C. 3* QB former Southern Miss commit looks like a pretty good pick up Pro-style QB.

sorry about that some one over on MT.org was saying it was jefcoat but summerlin is correct.
He plays at Coffeyville CC, just like a recruit who committed earlier this season.

He should be on campus very soon
yeah, yeah, I know Granoble
The Memphis Tigers needed a quarterback in this class and they just got one. JUCO quarterback Andy Summerlin. Summerlin, 6-foot-5 230 lbs, spent this past season playing at Coffeyville C.C. in Kansas.
Summerline is used to playing in a spread offense and does well in it. How well? Summerlin broke a 31 year old passing record this past season at Coffeyville. He threw for 2,302 yards to set a new record for the most passing yards at the school.
Sounds like we found ourselves our starting QB for 2010

So what does this mean for Cannon? Not wanting to start anything but interesting that we would pull a QB from the JC route considering the 2 year time they can play.
He was recruited by the new Quarterbacks coach when he was at Utah State and when he came to Memphis, he kept recruiting him.
Remember we only have 3 quarterbacks until now and you can't enough. Increases competition.
Doesn't Cannon have 3 years of eligibility left?

IMO he will start, Bass will play some too and Cannon will help the scout team in practice
yeah, yeah, I know Granoble
I think this is great news for Memphis and shows Porter is moving things in the correct direction

EE?
I think Andy Summerlin will win the job in spring practice, and I think Bass will play when the wildcat formation is used. I hope that answers your question
yeah, yeah, I know Granoble
I'm a bit surprised by the move to bring in a juco QB as well. Tyler Bass is a true junior, Cannon will just be a redshirt sophomore, and Will Gilchrist is just a redshirt freshman. The Summerlin kid sounds like a very good catch, I'm just a bit miffed we went after a juco QB with the returning QB's we had. Maybe Porter knows something we don't, lol.![]()
Looks like Summerlin has 3 yrs of eligibility left.
Nothing is like competition. Let the games begin.
