Default The NFLE(National Football League of Entertainment)

From now on, the NFL will be known as the NFLE(National Football League Entertainment) In my eyes, the NFL is now no longer any different than the WWE! From now on, Roger Goodell is the new Vince McMahon! This is no longer football. It is John Cena vs. Edge. The actual competitive element has been replaced by storylines and writers in an attempt to bolster the ratings. From this point on, I don’t care who plays in this league. It can be dog killers, drunk drivers, terrorists, murderers, baby killers and so on. The United States government orchestrates the greatest crisis management failure in history in New Orleans during the debacle of Hurricane Katrina, so to make up for it, they offer them an empty pacifier in the form of a Super Bowl victory so all of the regional corporations can get richer. The poor people of the 9th Ward and beyond will still be ducking gunfire! This was the official closure to Hurricane Katrina. This was an athletic, economic bailout! The NFL bailed out the Saints with the help of the Colts. Peyton Manning does not have to be the football grinch that stole Super Bowl Christmas from New Orleans. It almost feels like an episode of American Idol or Survivor, where the most formidable opponent does not always win, but the most popular and the most controversial ratings draw will.

For the first time in my adult life, I’m glad that football season is over. I will never look at the NFLE the same again. It’s all just rastlin(wrestling) now! The NFLE is rigged; probably always has been to some extent, but it has completely slipped a few notches now. I guess the only true competition during the Super Bowl is the battle for the best commercials! The rest is just entertainment. As The Who said so eloquently, "We Won't Get Fooled Again!"

The NFL/NFLE is not just a game! There is more money made off of football alone than all of Facebook combined! The NFL/NFLE is a multi-billion dollar business! If you were to place that kind of money in financial jeapordy, you would come up missing quicker than Jimmy Hoffa and Amelia Earhart in a meat grinder! Only a total fool would with a death wish would play around with billions of dollars like it was a game.

Sports in general are nothing more than a pacifier for me. Football, especially the NFLE, is a simpleton event anyway. I use such activities to help me pass the time, and they are supposed to entertain me in the meantime. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don’t. On this particular occasion, it did not! New Orleans vs. Minnesota was a bust, and this Super Bowl match-up was a bust.

There was very little intrigue in this game for me from the very beginning of this game. The Colts lost the exact same way the Vikings did, and Manning threw almost the exact same interception that Farve threw, in almost the exact same area; giving the Saints the exact same result. I’m not impressed!

The Super Bowl match-up from a year ago between the ratings sleeping Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers was far better and far more realistically feasible. It actually appeared to be an actual contest; an actual competitive event. The Santonio Holmes catch in the corner of the endzone to go ahead of the Arizona Cardinals did not in anyway seem scripted, and no one saw that one coming in advance. It could have been drawn up, but it seems highly unlikely that it was! That’s not the kind of play that can be easily manufactured! The Kurt Warner strip to seal the win also did not appear to be scripted either. The entire game seemed to be on the up and up.

It’s the job of the NFLE to at least try everything in their power to sell the optical illusion of competitiveness! If you are going to rig an event, at least have the complexity to make the outcome appear murky at best, I shouldn’t be able to sit at home and know the outcome verbatim. When that happens, it starts to seriously resemble and have the texture of professional wrestling! True football fans need to ask themselves one simple question; was it a true competition, or was it WWE? Go back in your minds and compare the last two previous Super Bowls. One looks like a game, and one looks like a scrimmage! Even the 2008 match up between the undefeated New England Patriots and the N.Y. Giants seemed like a real competitive event. David Tyree’s spectacular football to helmet catch is not something that can be easily scripted, and no one saw that one coming in advance either.

The NFLE has lost some of its luster with me. If you’re going to script the outcomes, then you had better do a much more effective job at selling it. You see guys; I don’t really have a team. Peyton Manning is just as favorable to me as Drew Brees, and the Saints are just as relevant to me as the Colts. I stopped rooting for teams once John Elway retired. Now, I only root for specific players to do well. I guess I’m the ultimate fantasy football guy who doesn’t play fantasy football. The only question remaining now is what effect this will have on Peyton Manning’s legacy, and what effect this will have on Drew Brees’ legacy? Will this make Drew Brees a Hall of Famer? The city of New Orleans getting football retribution for Hurricane Katrina means absolutely nothing to me. In my opinion, the NFLE, and sports in general, are seriously beginning to lean more heavily towards the ratings/entertainment side than the competitive/athletic side. It’s all reminiscent of the exact same corporate greed that allows rogue CEO’s to pocket huge bailout bonuses for skimming a company into the ground, because greed is the antithesis of authentication!

I just don't enjoy watching it anymore. Seems contrived now, to me

Roger Goodell is the new Vince McMahon! WWE = NFL.

Peyton is arguable one of the greatest to play the game he spends far and away more time on film of who does what when. when he threw that ball to reggie wayne he knew the l/b would jump the route. reggie wayne even moved out of the way. peyton helped the team he grew up cheering for AND HE GOT BACK AT THE COACH THAT PULLED HIM FROM THE GAME WHEN THEY WERE UNDEFEATED AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO COME OUT......EITHER there is a Marie lavue and she did put a vodoo hex on him or he threw the ball away...AND I DO NOT BELIEVE IN VOODOO...
