Now confirmed, 2011 offensive lineman Max Lang (6′5″ 290-pounds) of Orlando has an offer from the University of Memphis to go along with USC, Florida State, Kansas, Texas Tech, Central Florida, Middle Tennessee, South Florida, and Florida International. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Lang is No. 11 in the Sentinel’s 2011 Central Florida Super 60 and No. 62 in the Sentinel’s 2011 Florida Top 100.

 

Other schools involved are Florida, Duke and Rutgers but these schools have not offered yet. Lang has visited Florida State, Central Florida and South Florida for their junior days with the possibility of visiting the other local Florida schools soon mainly due to their proximity.

A-Game Sportsplex

Some of the southeast’s brightest stars had a chance to shine this past weekend at the new A-Game Sportsplex facilities in Franklin, TN, the second annual String Music Showcase. The three-day event started Friday night, finishing up on Sunday with the Memphis Magic Elite, coached by Eric “Cowboy” Robinson, taking home the 17U title. The Magic defeated the BA Hoyas by roughly 20 points to win the String Music Showcase for the second year in a row.

Madden Hearing More from Memphis

Just over the Mississippi River in Lepanto, AR, East Poinsett County High School combo guard Ky Madden says he has definitely been in touch with Josh Pastner and the Memphis staff.

 

“I’m hearing more from Memphis,” Madden said.

 

Memphis’ recruitment of Madden is nothing new. The highly athletic guard has starred for his East Poinsett squad for three years now and was a standout for the Arkansas Wings’ AAU team this past summer. Prior to Josh Pastner becoming the head coach at Memphis, John Calipari recruited Madden to Memphis heavily.

trevor_lacey2011 combo guard Trevor Lacey from Butler High School (Huntsville, AL) got some good news recently. He deserved a break, no pun intended.

 

A few weeks back, Lacey sustained a knee injury during the opening seconds of the first overtime period against Lee High School in the final of the Area 16 tournament for Alabama. Initial word was that it was a ligament tear, possibly an ACL.

Alabama Duo Visiting for Gonzaga Game

During almost any University of Memphis home game at the FedEx Forum, you can look behind the Tigers’ bench and see a bevy of local prep student athletes. Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford, Tarik Black, Adonis Thomas, Nino Johnson, Jarnell Stokes and others have all made multiple appearances this season. This afternoon, a look behind the bench will have you spotting prep-stars from out of state as well.
