Tiger Football: Mid-Season Report Card
Tigers Prepare for Miners
The University of Memphis football team is looking to bounce back on Saturday against the University of Texas at El Paso. Not only is this an important game for the Tigers, tomorrow’s game is also Homecoming for the University of Memphis. Hoping for a good crowd Saturday night, the Tigers have been preparing all week for a UTEP team that should provide a good match-up.
Tigers Look for Change- Bass to Start
After losing their first two games of the year, the Memphis Tigers are in desperate need of a win. Although fans have become apprehensive, with some already throwing in the towel for this season, the Tigers have plenty of time to turn things around. Looking for change to a struggling offense, Memphis head coach Tommy West has named Tyler Bass as the starting quarterback for the Tigers’ upcoming game against Tennessee-Martin.
Bass, a sophomore, will receive his first start this year in place of senior quarterback Arkelon Hall. Bass, who has not received much playing time this year due to a knee injury, replaces Hall, who has yet to get in rhythm this year with the offense. Bass and the Tigers will be taking on the Skyhawks of the University of Tennessee-Martin at home this Saturday at 7pm. With conference games ahead of them, and hopes of turning this team into a Conference USA championship contender, it is imperative that the Tigers get off to a good start on Saturday and gain some confidence for going into conference play next week.
