Jonathan had a chance to watch two Memphis high schools, Sheffield and Ridgeway, battle it out on the hardwood. Sheffield, who is led by Tiger signee Chris Crawford, gave Ridgeway High School and Tarik Black, another Memphis signee, all they could handle.
For the seventh time in Josh Pastner’s first early signing period as a head coach, the University of Memphis has garnered a commitment from yet another 2010 student-athlete. Memphis Roar was able to confirm that 6′8″ 230-pound power forward Tarik Black from Memphis’ Ridgeway High School has indeed committed to the University of Memphis.

With high school season not far away for Memphis area prep ballers, the semi-finals of the Super 80 summer league games take place tomorrow at Lausanne Collegiate School. For those that love basketball in general, tomorrow is a perfect opportunity to get out and catch some of the Memphis area’s finest young basketball players.
Jordan’s weekly column, normally titled “The Leftovers”, will be dubbed with a new name this week.
